What I Got My Kids for Christmas: Gift Ideas for a 1-Year-Old & 6-Year-Old Boy

Posted on December 8, 2025December 8, 2025 By nlefevre

Do you need a few more gift ideas for your kids that won’t end up in the endless abyss of toy clutter? Do you want toys and gift items that are high quality, last, and actually get played with? I’ve got you covered!

I have 1 and 6 year old boys, but many of these gifts would be great for girls too.

1 Year Old Ideas

  1. LovEvery Block Set-This set is so high quality & will create hours of open-ended play.
  2. LovEvery The Babblers Play Kit-These kits are pricer, but they are worth it in my opinion. I’ve tried to purchase lower end sets that are similar and have been disappointed. The LovEvery sets will last for years and years.
  3. My First Learn to talk book, I Can Say Moo, I Can Say Goodnight -These are books created by an early learning speech expert!
  4. Step 2 Ride On Push Car -My little one won’t feel left out when his big brother is riding his scooter or bike.
  5. Schleich Animal Figurines-We absolutely love these play animals. Both of my boys really enjoy them.

Some other great ideas that we gave to family are:

  1. Burts Beejs PJS-Cotton and high quality, we love them!
  2. Toiletry Bag for travel
  3. Stainless Steel Plates with Covers & Utensils-Lids on toddler plates may be the best invention ever. If you know you know.
  4. Stainless Steel Kid & Toddler Mason Jar Drinking Cups-These are too cute & durable!
  5. Diapers & Wipes
  6. Learning Resources Toys-We love Learning Resources toys. They have always been a hit in our house.
  7. Green Toys Vehicles-They last and are great for imaginative play.
  8. Training Young Hearts Board Books Boxed Set

6 Year Old Ideas

1. Razor A+ 2 Wheel Scooter with LED Lights-Take your basic scooter and make it way cooler!
2. Flexible Race Car Track-It has raving reviews for a reason. This racetrack can be used so many different ways–down stairs, off of a counter or table, so many open ended play options!
3. Invisible Ink Activity Book
4. Adventure Bible for Early Readers & Case
5. Headlamp Beanie-My son thinks these are the coolest.
6. Kaleidoscope Bible Yoto Cards-This is one of the gifts I am most excited about. This is what the creator had to say: “We will produce every book of the Bible in single volumes at a kid-friendly level while skipping over very little content. We hope you’ll try a volume or two and fill your bookshelves and your homes with the good news of the gospel.”
7. Schleich Animal Figurines
8. Stocking Stuffers–Kinder Joy Eggs, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Hot Wheels, Masking Tape (my 6 year old is always asking for tape for his creations haha)

Some other great ideas that we gave to family are:

1. Legos (you can never go wrong here)
2. Magna Tile Travel size
3. Yoto cards (if your child doesn’t have a Yoto Player, it would be an excellent gift! It gets used daily at our house.)
4. Toiletry Bag
5. PackIt Freezable Lunchbox-These lunchboxes are so cool!
6. PJs
7. Nerf Howler Football
8. 3D printing filament. My son has the Bambu Lab A1 Mini 3D Printer .

I hope this helps give you some great ideas for the special kids in your life! Merry Christmas!

-Nicole
